A QR code generator that respects your privacy

Most QR code generators require an account, slap a watermark on the output, or route your data through their servers. This tool does none of that. It encodes your content directly in the browser using a pure JavaScript implementation of the QR code specification. Your Wi-Fi passwords, contact cards, and business URLs stay on your machine. The output is a clean SVG or high-resolution PNG with no branding attached.

Whether you need a simple URL code for a business card, a Wi-Fi code for your coffee shop counter, or a branded vCard code with your company logo, the workflow is the same: pick a content type, fill in the details, choose a style, and download. The live preview updates as you type so you can see exactly what you are getting before exporting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this QR code generator really free with no limits?
Yes. Loopy HQ's QR Code Generator is 100% free with no watermarks, no account required, and no scan limits. Your QR codes never expire because they are static — the data is encoded directly into the code itself. There are no hidden paywalls or premium tiers.
What is error correction and which level should I use?
Error correction lets a QR code remain scannable even when partially damaged or obscured. There are four levels: • Level L (7% recovery) — Smallest QR code, best when space is tight and the code won't be damaged. • Level M (15% recovery) — The default. Good balance between size and resilience. • Level Q (25% recovery) — Recommended when you plan to add a logo in the center. • Level H (30% recovery) — Maximum recovery. Use when printing on surfaces prone to wear. If you upload a center logo, this tool automatically switches to High (H) to ensure scannability.
What types of content can I encode?
This generator supports 8 content types: • URL — Any website link. Phones open it in the browser. • Text — Plain text, notes, or messages up to ~2,953 bytes. • Wi-Fi — Network name, password, and encryption type. Phones auto-connect on scan. • vCard — Full contact card with name, phone, email, company, title, website, and address. • Email — Pre-filled mailto link with recipient, subject, and body. • SMS — Phone number with optional pre-filled message. • WhatsApp — Direct message link with phone number and text. • Phone — Tap-to-call phone number.
Is my data safe? Is anything uploaded to a server?
Nothing is uploaded. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, and messages never leave your device. There are no network requests, no analytics on your content, and no server-side processing.
What is the maximum data a QR code can hold?
A single QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric characters, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data. In practice, most QR codes encode a URL of 50–150 characters. Longer content produces denser (more complex) codes that may be harder to scan from a distance or at small sizes.
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes (like the ones this tool generates) do not expire. The encoded data is baked into the pattern of squares. As long as the URL or content you encoded still works, the QR code will scan indefinitely. Only "dynamic" QR codes that redirect through a third-party server can be disabled or expired by the provider.
Can I add my logo or brand image to the QR code?
Yes. Click "Advanced Options" and upload a PNG, JPG, SVG, or WebP logo (max 2 MB). The logo is placed in the center of the QR code with a clean background padding. The tool automatically sets error correction to High (30%) so the code remains scannable despite the logo covering some data modules.
Should I download SVG or PNG?
Choose SVG for print materials, business cards, and large-format signage. SVG is vector, so it scales to any size without losing sharpness. Choose PNG for digital use: social media posts, presentations, websites, and email. The PNG export goes up to 2000×2000 pixels at 3× resolution for crisp display on high-DPI screens.
How do I create a Wi-Fi QR code for my business or home?
Select the "Wi-Fi" content type, enter your network name (SSID) and password, choose the encryption (WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for most networks), and optionally check "Hidden network" if your SSID is not broadcast. The generated QR code lets anyone scan it with their phone camera to connect instantly — no typing passwords.
Can I customize the colors and style of my QR code?
Yes. This tool offers 12 pre-built style templates (Classic, Midnight, Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Royal, Rose, Monochrome, Neon, Gold, Slate, Coral) plus full custom color pickers for foreground and background. You can also choose from 4 dot styles: Square, Rounded, Dots, and Classy. Ensure sufficient contrast between foreground and background for reliable scanning.
