Frequently Asked Questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The merge happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript (pdf-lib). Your files are read locally, combined in memory, and the result is downloaded directly. No data is transmitted anywhere.
Can I reorder files before merging?
Yes. After adding files, drag them into your preferred order using the handle on the left side of each row. The merged PDF will follow this exact order.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Only if you supply the password. If a file is encrypted, you'll need to unlock it first using our Unlock PDF tool, then merge the resulting unprotected file.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
There is no artificial limit. You can merge as many PDFs as your browser can handle. For very large batches (50+ files or 200+ MB total), processing may take a moment since everything runs locally.
Does merging affect the quality of my PDFs?
No. Pages are copied byte-for-byte from the source files. Text remains selectable, images stay at their original resolution, and links and bookmarks are preserved.
What if one of my files is corrupted?
The tool will report an error for that specific file and skip it. Other valid files in your batch will still be merged successfully.
