Why choose PNG over JPG?
PNG is lossless — no compression artifacts. It's ideal for text-heavy documents, screenshots, diagrams, and any page where you need pixel-perfect reproduction. PNG also supports transparency, which JPG does not.
What does the transparent background option do?
By default, pages are rendered on a white background. With transparency enabled, the background is left clear — useful if you want to overlay the page content onto another image or colored background.
Is there a page limit?
No limit. However, PNG files at high resolution can be large (5-15 MB per page at 3x), so very long documents may use significant memory. For documents with many pages, consider using 1x or 2x scale.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser using pdf.js. Your PDF is rendered locally onto a canvas element, then exported as PNG. Nothing is sent to any server.
The output files are large — how can I reduce size?
PNG is lossless, so files tend to be larger than JPEG. Use 1x scale for smaller files, or switch to our PDF to JPG tool if you don't need lossless quality. For further compression, run the PNGs through our Image Compressor.
Can I convert specific pages only?
