Are my files uploaded?
No. Page numbers are added entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file is read locally, modified in memory, and the result is downloaded directly.
What number formats are available?
• Plain number: "1", "2", "3" • Page X of Y: "Page 1 of 10" • Dashes: "— 1 —" All formats support a custom starting number.
Does this modify the original content?
The tool adds text on top of existing page content. Original text, images, and formatting remain untouched. The page numbers are rendered in grey Helvetica at your chosen size.
Can I choose where numbers appear?
Yes. Choose from 6 positions: top-left, top-center, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-center, or bottom-right.
Can I start numbering from a page other than 1?
Yes. Set the starting number to any value. For example, if your document starts at chapter 3 page 45, enter 45 as the start number.
